NSWDH Standards and Conditions

Friday 26, February 2010

By now, most are aware of the changes being implemented by NSW Health regarding the employment of Locum Medical Officers. Introduced in phases over the past couple of years, we have now reached the final stage. As a result, Health 24-7 has full compliance with the new policy and meets all requirements set out in the NSW Health Standards and Conditions.

These new Standards and Conditions have already been implemented across NSW Area Health Services. However , there will be no noticeable change to the way Health 24-7 operates or the way in which you conduct your work. As always, we will continue to assist with the placement of medical officers across all area health services.

It is worth noting that the Standards and Conditions do not relate to the appointment of VMO’s, Dentists, Staff Specialists or any medical professional that has been through the Medical and Dental Appointments and Advisory Committee (MDAAC).

Regardless, it is the choice of each individual Area Health Service in NSW as to whether they enforce any or all of these new policy paperwork requirements for those other than Locum Medical Officers. Currently Greater Southern Area Health Service is requiring all locums at all levels to complete the NSW Health paperwork.

The team at Health 24-7 will assist with the entire process, and look forward to working with you directly to assist you further. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require any additional information.
