Rockhampton Hospital is classified as a large hospital, providing services across a range of disciplines, including but not limited to Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, Radiology and Ultrasound, Intensive Care, General Surgery and Orthopaedics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, General Medicine and Paediatrics.

This 227-bed facility is currently undergoing a $234 million redevelopment, which includes the construction of a new Emergency Department as well as a new Maternity and Paediatrics Unit among other plans. There is also a new staff accommodation building located in Cambridge Street.

The city of Rockhampton has an immediate population of 60,000 with a total catchment of 120,000 when including the surrounding districts. Rockhampton is located less than 700km north of Brisbane, and there is no shortage of things to do in this vibrant city.

Located only 30 minutes drive from the Capricorn Coast with easy access to Great Keppel Island and the Great Barrier Reef, outdoor activities such as fishing and boating are popular amongst tourists and locals. Other highlights include live bull rides most Friday nights at the Great Western Hotel, the Rockhampton Art Gallery, Heritage Village and Dreamtime Cultural Centre.
