AHPRA Update on Lapsed Registrants
Friday 18, February 2011Since the start of the national registration scheme in July 2010, the registration of almost 8000 health practitioners has lapsed. Renewals must be received within one month of the expiry date to avoid removal from the National Register.
If your Australian Medical Registration has not been renewed you have not renewed on time, there is a fast track option to re-apply. The application form is available on the AHPRA website or by clicking here, with submissions usually processed within 48 hours provided there is no positive criminal history declaration.
According to Mr Martin Fletcher, CEO of AHPRA, they are working on developing current services to ensure practitioners are notified in a timely manner and applications are processed promptly.
“We have boosted our phone capacity, increased the operating hours of our contact centre, put more resources in processing fast tracks and renewal applications and put in place a specialist response dedicated to working with Medicare and registrants whose registration has lapsed,” he said.
